POGGENPOHL'S PLUSMODO KITCHEN WINS SIX DESIGN AWARDS
(Fairfield, NJ October 2006) – The innovative kitchen architecture PLUSMODO created by Spanish designer Jorge Pensi has already won six coveted design awards
within the first year of its appearance on the market. No other product made by Poggenpohl has won so many awards in such a short period of time.
Germany's oldest furniture brand has always been known as a trendsetter for innovative kitchen design. Spectacular and daring designs, such as the spherical
kitchen by star designer Luigi Colani, the unmistakable form of the company's own
design lines +SEGMENTO® and +INTEGRATION® , PLUSMODO and the design study
recently presented at the Eurocucina 2006 exhibition in Milan have repeatedly won the attention and appreciation of a broad international audience.
"It is always an exciting moment whenever we present our newest developments to
the critical public eye. And we are naturally always delighted whenever our designs are well received and appreciated. We are extremely proud of the distinction
bestowed upon us with these design awards. They strengthen our brand and show that we have set pioneering trends for the future," says Poggenpohl's managing
director Elmar Duffner.
The two kitchen concepts +SEGMENTO® (2000) and +INTEGRATION® (2004) have
already won the distinguished "Good Design Award" by the famous Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. PLUSMODO also won the award last
year. "Good Design" was founded in 1950 and is the oldest international competition for innovative new product design in the world.
The "red dot design award" which has been given every year for more than 50 years
by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen in Essen is a mark of quality and one of
the leading competitive distinctions. A record-breaking number of 2,068 entries from 41 nations were submitted this year. PLUSMODO is one of the products that
ultimately won this coveted mark of quality. As Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the
"red dot design award" and president of the international design association ICSID,
explained when presenting the awards, "this distinction is a major indicator of
whether or not a product has the necessary potential to survive in an international market".
PLUSMODO has also won the "iF Product Design Award 2006". Since its introduction
in 1953, the award has remained a constant and reputed trademark for all "award
-winning" designs. The best entries from eleven countries were awarded the "iF
Design Award China" by a jury of Chinese and German experts; this honor was now awarded for the fourth time this year. In addition, it was also revealed that
PLUSMODO was chosen for the "Top Selection" and thus qualifies as one of the 10
best products in the competition. The winning sculpture is currently being presented to Poggenpohl in China.
PLUSMODO has also been nominated to receive the "Design Award of the Federal
Republic of Germany 2007" in recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of
product design. Companies cannot submit their own entries for this Design Award, which has been awarded since 2002. Only products which have already won a
leading award can be nominated for this Award. No other distinction imposes such a
stringent criteria which is why it is the most highly coveted award among designers. The decision will be made in October.
